That's right! James and I bought out FIRST home (Hopefully to be our only home)! I know pictures are LONG overdue and I won't bother with my excuses so lets just dive right in.
We bought a house in Bristol, Connecticut (If you didn't know yet, you know now)! This former West Coast Gal and hubby were in need of a serious change and we had the opportunity to move out East, so we did! The house hunting process didn't end up taking to terribly long but waiting to go to closing seemed to take forever! But when all was said and done, James and I walked away as home owners and in debt up to our eyeballs. A few things I need to mention about our home before we get to the pictures...
1. When looking for a house we wanted this to be long term so we had to love the neighborhood and size of the home.
2. When we first walked into this home we commented on how it didn't "show" very well. But not being ones to shy away from a challenge we kept open minds.
3. All the aspects we DIDN'T like about the house were cosmetic and easily changeable.
with that said our home isn't going to need to be gutted or completely remolded but we will be making significant changes to the style of the house! I'm not doing a full tour today but I will share some images of what I've already done in the dinning room.
Here is a picture I snapped when we were still house hunting and this was the second time we saw this house. The floors are really pretty but I didn't like the gold/orange color on the walls! I'd like to think my style is an intriguing mix of modern and vintage so this was definitely something I wanted to change :)
I was also not a fan of the chair rail and two-tone effect so I ripped off the rail
puttied and sanded
and went to work painting the whole room "Morning Fog" from Sherwin-Williams
The next day I decided to put together our new dinning room table from Ikea! I thought, "Hey, its got a top and four legs. How hard can it be!?"
Then I saw the pieces and truthfully lost a little steam ...
but I was determined to have it all done by the time James got home so he could be all impressed and "Oooo & Ahhh" over how handy I am!
Table complete, I then went to work on building and covering six chairs!
Voila! Room painted, table built and chairs put together!
So quick recap...here's the previous owners before
and my after. But its far from being finished, I still need to change the chandelier to a brushed steel pendant light, hang my window treatments and get some colorful art on those bare walls!
