Gluten Free Bratwurst Corn Dogs

By Tiffany Detweiler - Friday, February 02, 2018

Who is excited for the big game on Sunday!? Truth be told I don't watch football, I just participate for the food! Here is a recipe that is easy to whip up and makes for delicious Super Bowl Snacking! Gluten Free Bratwurst Corn Dogs! My family loves these, especially my husband since he is not a huge hot dog fan but bratwursts are his jam! I usually use Johnsonville Original Brats because they are our favorite, but feel free to use what you like! Serve with BBQ Sauce or Stone Ground Mustard for dipping! Enjoy and Go (insert your team name here)!

Ingredients

·         Oil for frying
·         1 package of Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Cornbread mix
·         1 1/2 cups whole milk
·         2 tablespoons brown sugar
·         2 eggs
·         10 par-grilled , fresh bratwurst

Directions
1.      Preheat oven to 350°F
2.      Cook bratwursts in oven until they reach an internal temp of 160°F (usually 20 minutes).
3.      Let brats cool for about 15 minutes
4.      preheat oil to 375°F
5.      While Brats are cooling and oil is heating, mix cornbread mix (reserve 1/2 a cup of dry mix to dredge the Brats in), milk, brown sugar and eggs in a large bowl; You may need to add a bit more milk in order to achieve a pancake-batter like consistency.
6.       Coat bratwursts in reserved dry mix, then dip in the batter, coating completely. Using tongs carefully drop into hot oil and cook until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining brats.
7.      Remove brat dogs when golden brown, placing on a paper towel to drain. Cool for 5 minutes then slice into bite size pieces and serve with your favorite dipping sauces!
