Silver Lake Loop Trail, Big Cottonwood Canyon

Yesterday afternoon we went on a little adventure into Big Cottonwood Canyon! We thought it would be fun to take a picnic dinner up into the mountains and see if there was any Fall color left to see. Unfortunately we missed nearly all the Fall colors in this particular Canyon but the landscape was still incredibly breathtaking! We also completely miss judged how much cooler it is in the mountains! While it was a very pleasant 70 in the valley it was a brisk 52 degrees when we stopped for dinner! There was still snow dusting the mountains!

Big Cottonwood Canyon (43 of 84) We braved the cool mountain air and enjoyed our picnic and a walk around Silver Lake. The lake is located at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon and is circled by a boardwalk that has picnic tables and benches along the trail. Its about a mile walk around the lake and very family friendly!
